Who we are
Mission:
To care for homeless and abandoned companion dogs and cats within the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass
To speak for those who cannot speak for themselves
- Established September 15, 1978 and from 1978 to present as the only animal welfare organization for the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta
- We are volunteer and donation based
- Our SPCA is an “open environment” facility. Cats are generally not caged and are allowed to roam freely within the facility interacting with each other.
- The dogs in the CNP SPCA have indoor heated rooms (6’ x 7’) and have ready access to outdoor dog runs.
- Only those cats and dogs with dietary restrictions, medical issues or behavioral issues are limited to enclosures.
Vision:
To inspire and educate our community to demonstrate and practice proper care, respect and compassion for animals.
- We offer advice and direction in proper general care of cats and dogs
- Promote spay & neuter of companion animals
- Discourage unnecessary cosmetic procedures on cats and dogs – eg. declawing, ear cropping, tail docking and the like
- Work collaboratively with local elementary school students to encourage involvement, interest and understanding of our facility and its purpose.
