December 8, 2016 our volunteers found a box had been pushed through the door. Inside we found 2 small kittens, no more than 6 months old. These little kittens were definitely very scared, not particularly friendly and it was obvious neither of them wanted anything to do with people!
Quinn is a handsome young man even though a little cross-eyed. For the first few months he was so terrified of us and his new surroundings that he would run for his life if anyone even looked his way. Little by little Quinn has been “relaxing” and being somewhat more social. Over the past year he will often let you pet him and has recently been “talking” either to himself as he plays or to the other cats – something he had never done before.
Quinn would do very well in a quiet home as the only pet, or perhaps with one other cat of similar age. It is obvious that Quinn is looking for love and affection but is just not altogether comfortable in showing it or asking for it right now.
He is a quirky little man with odd shaped cross eyes and the tiniest little hesitant voice. You can’t help but fall in love with him. He deserves a very special place in your heart!!
Update: We recently had Quinn diagnosed with dental problems that were starting to affect his health and weight. The Vet removed most of Quinn's teeth - he now has his canines and a few teeth between them only. He has recovered very well and in his recovery (and our special care during that recovery) his personality seems to have changed. Once a cat that could never be approached and would run from any attempt, Quinn will now approach you, mewing quietly and accepting some gentle petting while rubbing against your legs. We are still not able to pick him up or cuddle him, but our patience and gentle care during his sedation and recuperation seems to have reset a bit of his trust for us.
Quinn is regaining his health and weight and is reacting well to some affection, gentle brushing and attention. We are seeing him eating dry cat food now but we are supplementing his diet with a daily ration of canned delights.
We are not confident that Quinn would ever feel comfortable in a "new" home, and if he doesn't find his "soul mate" we are more than happy to have him remain at the shelter for as long as need be.
Quinn would require an quiet older adult home with no children/grandchildren or any other pets.
In the least, we hope you will drop by to meet Quinn and maybe help further his new-found trust in people! This little guy is someone you will never regret meeting!
